Keane not getting the sack insist Ipswich

• Reports of Keane's sacking 'complete rubbish' • Club insist no meetings were held with the managerIpswich have denied reports that the club's manager Roy Keane is set to lose his job at Portman Road. Keane has won three league games since replacing Jim Magilton in April and his side was held to a goalless draw by Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. An Ipswich spokesman said today: "Reports in the press this morning that Roy will be sacked are complete rubbish. There were no meetings over the weekend and Roy remains in charge."Ipswich are only being kept off the bottom of the Championship by Peterborough after picking up 13 points from 17 games, but are currently on a six-game unbeaten run. Reports suggested the former Manchester United captain was set to be shown the door today after a board meeting on Sunday but the club insist there is no change in management planned.Keane made headlines on Friday with his frank reaction to the Republic of Ireland's World Cup exit in France and admitted after the Sheffield Wednesday draw that a lack of goals was the key to his side's slump. Ipswich have scored 17 goals in their 17 Championship games to date.Keane's next game in charge is away to Cardiff on Sunday, a repeat of his first game at the helm back in April when Ipswich recorded an impressive 3-0 win.Keane has been dealt another blow ahead of the trip, however, after Portsmouth recalled goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from his loan spell following an injury to the England keeper David James. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international was due to stay at Portman Road until January but has been called back after James sustained a calf injury yesterday. Begovic made six appearances for Keane's team, conceding four goals and was never on the losing side.Roy KeaneIpswich TownChampionshipguardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2009 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More Feeds
