The England football team is made of the best English players participating in the best European championships: Premier League, Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1. Under the direction of the FA, the England team takes part in the international competitions, for example the football World Cup, the European football championship or Euro, the Olympic Games or the Confederations Cup. The Three Lions won the 1966 World Cup at home against West Germany. Its emblematic players are Gordon Banks, Bobby Moore, Kevin Keagan, Mark Wright, Tony Adams, Gary Stevens, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Paul Ince, Paul Gascogne and Chris Waddle, and more recently Gary Neville, David Beckham, Frank Lampar, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney or Joe Cole. The England team qualified for the 2010 World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, after brilliant results during the qualifiers. The team's coach is currently Fabio Capello.
